The Journal Editorial Policy

The journal publishes original research papers; analytical reviews, problems of medicine and pharmacy, modern concepts of diagnosis and treatment technologies, scientific information from congresses, meetings, conferences, exchange of experience, case reports, analytical reports, historical background. Original articles may be accompanied by comments provided by the members of the editorial board or by competent experts.

Materials previously published or submitted to other publishing houses are not accepted for publication.

The authors bear responsibility for truthfulness of the information and authenticity. The editorial board reserves the right to shorten and edit manuscripts.

Rejection of publication is not necessarily accompanied by appropriate explanations and may not be considered a negative conclusion regarding the scientific and practical value of the work.

The journal is an independent multidisciplinary periodical for the exchange of scientific and clinical information, original research papers covering all the aspects of medicine.

In the process of preparing the journal, the editorial board is guided by the “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication” approved by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE.org).

General Notices

Manuscripts are accepted for publication only on condition that neither a manuscript nor any significant part thereof has been published previously in printed or electronic form and is not currently submitted to another publisher.

The manuscripts are evaluated by two independent reviewers and are accepted for publication only if two positive reviews were obtained.

The manuscript is returned to the author for modification and bringing into compliance with comments. The author is required to return the revised manuscript to the editorial office within 14 days, otherwise the manuscript is considered withdrawn.

Before publication, the authors transfer the copyright to their manuscripts to the editorial board of the Journal.

Procedures for Ensuring the Authenticity of Articles in the Journal

All materials submitted for publication in the Journal are reviewed by two independent reviewers who evaluate both the content and authenticity of the work.

By submitting an article to the editorial board, the authors agree that their manuscripts will be verified for plagiarism. All detected cases of scientific unfairness will be disclosed, including reporting to the relevant institutions.

Literary editors (Ukrainian and English) will check the grammar and style of the manuscripts. Any quotations from other articles should be duly displayed in the references.

The final decision of the editorial board for each article is based on the terms developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE: www.publicationethics.org).

The editorial board of the Journal follows the “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication” approved by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE.org).

Manuscripts are considered with due respect for the confidentiality of the authors. When submitting manuscripts for consideration, the authors entrust to the editors the results of their research work and creative efforts, on which their reputation and career depend. The rights of authors may not be violated by the disclosure of confidential details when considering their manuscripts. Reviewers also have the right to privacy. Editors do not transmit information about the manuscript (including its receipt, content, status in the review process, reviewers, or final decision) to anyone other than authors and reviewers.

Comments by reviewers are not published and are not made public.

Review Process

Articles submitted to the editorial office are subject to review. All materials submitted to the editorial board are reviewed and receive a recommendation for publication or rejection.

Open Access Policy

The journal follows the policy of immediate open access to the published content, supporting the principles of free distribution of scientific information and global exchange of knowledge for the progress of society.

Ethical Oversight

We focus on the СОРE definition of Ethical oversight, namely “Ethical oversight should include, but is not limited to, policies on consent to publication, publication on vulnerable populations, ethical conduct of research using animals, ethical conduct of research using human subjects, handling confidential data and of business/marketing practices”. Based on this definition, the editorial office of the Journal works under the issue of observing the ethical principles.

All research published in the Ukrainian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery must have been conducted according to international and local guidelines ensuring ethically conducted research.

Ethics approval for all studies must be obtained before the research is conducted. Authors must be prepared to provide further information to the journal editorial office upon request.
