The periodical was founded in 1999 as a Yearbook of Scientific Papers of the Association of cardiovascular surgeons of Ukraine. Since 2014, its title was changed for Cardiovascular Surgery Herald, and since April 19, 2019 the Journal is called Ukrainian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery.

The Journal is included in the Register of Subjects in the Field of Media. Media ID R30-03697. Decision of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting No. 1000 of March 28, 2024.
The Journal was included to the List of Ukrainian Scientific Professional Editions in which the results of doctoral thesis for PhD achievement for specialty 222 "Medicine", can be published, category «А». (approved by the order of The Ministry Of Education and Sciences of Ukraine from 10.10.2022 № 894)
The journal is indexed in the scientometric database Scopus.
